I haven't kept a journal in decades, and nearly two have passed since blogging became a thing. With AI it's probably about to be obsolete, but that's how it happens with me. So here's the thing about writing - everyone's doing it now, more and more really, but with the seismic shifts of the last twenty years - the advent of the internet and all the End of Modernity business, the relationship between reading and writing has disintegrated. Writing is much more closely linked to performance than it is to reading. People write without reading, or rather write out of their reading in a way that has less to do with language than with drama - not just narrative content, but the drama of writing itself, of participating in an activity.
